There once was a couple from… Nantucket?

MonaPaul02Again this year, Kim Daskas, the fabulous marketing director from The District shopping center in Tustin invited Mona and me to participate in her scavenger hunt for couples. And again, like last year, we finished pretty much in last place. Good thing we were auditing the course — it wasn’t even pass-fail for us since we weren’t eligible to win. I like that. No pressure. Just have fun.

Anyway, one of the challenges was to write limericks, so while Mona attended to other details of the scavenger hunt I trailed behind with a notebook and a pen and I wrote four poems. Last year, I griped to Mona that not all of our competitors understood the meter and rhyme of a limerick. They ended up just rhyming a couple of lines or three. That’s a couplet, not a limerick. Hey, what can I say? I was an English major and word nerd.

So here are those limericks. I wrote two romantic ones — one for me and one for Mona — and, of course, two bawdy ones.

To my love Mona Dilip
When I see you my heart filips
Our bond in August
Will be just so just…
Oh, just give me a kiss on the lilip.

(Dilip is Mona’s middle name)

I love life with my Paulie
It’s like the CHOC Follies
Full of singing
And lots o’ dancing
Now if I could stop him from crooning “Hello Dolly.”

I know a pretty lass Mona
She’s my little sharona
At least until today
When I’m ashamed to say
I tried to share my bologna

There’s this guy I’ll call Paul
Let’s just say he likes to ball
It’s not what you think
When it comes to his link
It can be one very big LOL

    A LIMERICK FOR THE LOVEBIRDS

*Mona and Paulie, what a great team!

*Not at all the odd couple it might seem,

    *****And when they are around

*****You can see their love is profound

*Something special, as though hatched from a dream!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO YOU BOTH!

*but he knows he is always a welcome guest.
that’s mostly from mona, since she likes the goofy responses – happy valentine’s day!
