This is Mark Dustin, our photo editor. This is another drawing I did from one of my photographs, but I don’t like how it turned out at all. Again, the problem was with the eyes. Mark was standing too far away in the shot I took so I didn’t have a good resource there. Plus, he looks angry — like he’s about to Hulk out. He doesn’t look like that in the photograph. Good thing he’s on vacation.

Lisa Cosenza, our advertising director, was, by far, the hardest portrait I did last week. I worked the longest on it, and it is probably the least accurate and successful. I really bungled the eyes, which I never do. The proportions are way off. I stopped and started this drawing probably half a dozen times.

I’m a little jealous. But not too much. Greer Wylder, who writes the “Best Buys” column for us on Fridays,  scored an interview with Frank Black and his wife Violet Clark, who have their own band, Grand Duchy.
