Just heard from a good source that next year’s Orange County marathon will be re-routed. Instead of going from Newport Beach to Irvine, the route will wind through Newport Beach and Costa Mesa.

My source tells me that race organizers were getting upset with the haggling with Irvine officials and when Costa Mesa leaders heard  about this they jumped on the opportunity. There are many more details to be worked out, but it appears Costa Mesa leaders are all on board with the plan from a conceptual standpoint.
